What Are The Herbs For Weight Loss?

David Bloom has written 'What Are The Herbs For Weight Loss?' and writes "There are a number of herbs for weight loss that can help you safely and effectively lose excess pounds without the need for controversial and often dangerous prescription medications. When used in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise program, these herbal extracts can give you the extra boost you need to reach your diet goals.

Weight loss herbs come in various forms, including single ingredient and more comprehensive supplements, elixirs and liquid preparations, among others. It's important to research all of the options thoroughly before deciding what's right for you.

Some "dieter’s teas" can actually be harmful, so research is important. Dieter’s teas containing senna, aloe, buckthorn or other laxatives derived from plants have been known to cause diarrhea, vomiting or chronic constipation when used at high levels. Do not exceed recommended doses of any of these products..

Green tea extract has become one of the most popular herbs for weight loss. Researchers have found that those who took the extract increased their expenditure of energy and burned more fat than those who took a placebo or caffeine alone.

In addition to green tea, there are a number of weight loss herbs that have shown promise, although most have not been the subject of as many clinical trials.

Cascara sagrada is a strong stimulant laxative and should not be used for more than a week as a weight loss herb.

Dandelion is a gentle diuretic, laxative and digestive aid and you can take it in tea form or as a fresh dandelion salad.

Ephedra was found in many weight loss preparations, but was banned a few years ago after researchers found an increase risk of heart attacks with excessive dosages.

Garcinia cambogia is a metabolic stimulant and appetite suppressant and licorice root is one of those herbs for weight loss that satisfies cravings for sweets and helps avoid snacking.

Psyllium is a gentle laxative, as is senna. Although studies are inconclusive, St. John’s wort appears to increase seratonin levels in the brain and suppress appetite.

These are the main herbs for weight loss, although you may find research on various others. If you are looking for a supplement, make sure it contains standardized extracts, which are the purest forms. This will ensure that the active ingredient is present in the formula...otherwise, the weight loss herb will likely be ineffective.

Make sure that you consult your physician before starting supplementation. He or she will help you decide which herbal weight loss product is right for you.

David Bloom is a health enthusiast and contributor to many fitness sites. He is the author of Weight Loss Herbs, a section of Herbal Supplements Guide dedicated to natural ways to shed excess pounds in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise program.

But are these weight loss pills worth the effort? What exactly is in these herbal dietary pills that can help us lose weight?

The problem of obesity

First of all, lets talk about obesity. Obesity is a dangerous cycle that starts with unhealthy eating. Gaining extra weight makes people less active, and this in turn causes a person to gain even more weight.

The problem with the extra pounds goes far beyond the physical appearance however, in that obesity can dangerously affect our health causing other problems and diseases we can surely do without..

Becoming thinner starts with small steps like replacing junk foods and soda with fruits and vegetables, working towards 30 minutes a day of moderate exercise, as well taking advantage of the better herbal dietary supplements on the market to create a well balanced diet and active lifestyle.

Common herbs include Hooodia gordonii, Chitosan, Green tea leaf, Beet root, White kidney bean, White Willow, and others. Ingredients in Herbal Weight Loss Supplements

Ingredients in Herbal Weight Loss Supplements was written by George Knows and writes "Many people looking to lose weight look to herbal weight loss supplements to get rid of extra flab. Do these herbal pills really work, and how effective are they? Let us take a look at the herbal ingredients that make these dietary supplements suppress the appetite, burn calories faster, and help a person lose weight naturally.

For people who maintain a fairly active lifestyle, herbal dietary supplements can help them stay active, stay feeling full more of the time, and lose weight while they continue life normally.

For people who are overweight, herbal weight loss supplements should not be thought of as a magic pill that can burn the pounds away. But instead when combined with healthy exercise and eating habits, they can go a long way towards bringing weight loss success quickly..

Traditional herbal ingredients such as Hoodia Gordonii have been used by ancient cultures to curb hunger on long hunting trips. Only recently has Hoodia become popular in the west by celebrities and the news. Now it seems that many people are giving it a try.

Herbal weight loss products are most successful though when they combine multiple fat burning, hunger reducing ingredients in their formula.

The following is a list of common herbal dietary supplements and what they do:

Hoodia Gordonii is an herb from a plant in South Africa that reduces appetite by mimmicking the effect that feeling full has on your after you eat. This makes a person not feel hungry, causing them to eat less without starving themselves, which is very unhealthy.

White Kidney Bean Powder is an herb that has gone through extensive research and testing and what it does is stop the digestive process from turning starch into sugar, so you take in less fat calories, and your body gets rid of the starch you don’t need.

White Willow Bark extract works with other ingredients to boost your metabolism to burn up calories faster, again making you take in and store less extra fat calories.

L-Methionine works with the natural substances in the liver to burn extra fat more quickly

Fenugreek is an herb that lowers cholesterol, improves your digestive system and balances the bodys sugar levels.

Green Tea Leaf burns calories and oxidizes fat to burn fat faster.

Beet Root improves the function of the liver, and strengthens the blood.

With the right mix of quality ingredients, herbal weight loss supplements help reduce hunger, and tune up the digestive processes. They can also help remove some of the unhealthy aspects of food like unwanted fat and cholesterol, which will make your exercising all the more effective.

For the best results with herbal dietary supplements, do your best to take 30 minutes per day for some light to moderate exercises. This can be anything simple like jumping rope, doing situps and pushups, or even taking a yoga class.

Build up your exercise habits while keeping a close eye on your food intake. Create a healthy diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables and take advantage from herbal dietary supplements like ProShapeRx. You can look and feel thinner and greatly increase your confidence in just weeks by staying focused on your natural weight loss goals.

The Truth about Herbal Weight Loss Supplements

The Truth about Herbal Weight Loss Supplements was written by Natalie Aranda and she writes "Perfect. We all strive to be this word, yet the majority of us will never reach this goal. With imperfections, flaws, and problems we try to cover up, we are never happy with our entire selves. For many women and men alike, weight loss supplements have changed attitudes and imperfections. Some of us are no longer hiding mirrors and hibernating during bathing suit season. Although these herbal weight loss supplements are the newest trend on the market, consumers do not realize that there is actual danger attached to these “perfect” pills.

When we hear the phrase “herbal supplement” we automatically think that it is okay for us to take. After all, it is herbal and natural usually means that it does not contain anything lethal. Or does it? We stay confident that it won’t kill us if it is provided in a health store or a pharmacy. Why would any company in their right mind sell them if they were treacherous to our bodies? Unfortunately, these “herbal supplements” are not always approved by the FDA. Many of these labels include warnings, stating that anxiety problems, and even seizures could occur if fat burners are consumed..

Most of these herbal “supplements” include Ephedrine and Senna. These are both supposed to increase metabolism, yet they actually can do more harm than good. For example, Senna contains a laxative that is highly addictive. When your body becomes reliant on a specific supplement, you will not be able to function without it. This could lead to major problems, and the damage is usually irreversible.

Although there are many weight loss supplements that do work, the side effects are the hazardous aspect that people are worried about. For instance, if you were to frequently take fat burners that contained appetite suppressants, chances are you would have trouble sleeping. You also would develop high blood pressure, and intense anxiety. Still not satisfied with the results? When consumers are determined to lose a certain amount of weight, they will do anything to speed up the process. Usually this means taking an extra dosage each day, or taking a few pills with every meal. Although this may sound like common sense to reach a goal, it actually could cost you your life. From seizures to death, herbal supplements don’t always mean that natural is healthy. After all, warnings are also written on the bottle for a reason.

If you are exercising and trying to lose weight healthily, there are alternatives to weight loss supplements. Instead of taking fat burners, it is smart to drink green tea. This is one alternative that actually works and is great for your body. Consumers love the fact that it not only tastes great, but it also speeds up your metabolism. Perhaps one day society will be open enough to accept people no matter how they look. For now, it is a sad thought to think that people actually go to these great lengths in order to look perfect.

Natalie Aranda writes on fitness and weight loss. Although there are many weight loss supplements that do work, the side effects are the hazardous aspect that people are worried about. For instance, if you were to frequently take fat burners that contained appetite suppressants, chances are you would have trouble sleeping. You also would develop high blood pressure, and intense anxiety.

Your Guide To Herbal Weight Loss

Your Guide To Herbal Weight Loss was written by Javier Fuller and he writes "Health is wealth, so goes the saying. But too much health brings hell wrath!

Well, health doesn’t mean belly pouring out or plump checks; rather fitness with stamina and disease free body is what marks a healthy body. The lethargic living of present day and a number of diseases are due to a fetish gain of weight. This is called “obesity” which is a result of extra proportion of fat in your body. The problem of obesity takes its roots from your wrong eating habits and you cannot get rid of it even after starving for four days!

Nearly 119 million of Americans are either overweight or obese. Obesity is the major reason behind many diseases related to heart, diabetes and blood pressure problems. Thus these people are really conscious for losing “extra” weight. To get rid of the corpulent accumulation of fats these people can go literally to any heights!!

The most popular method tried so far has been the herbal weight loss program. The herbal weight loss program includes many supplements like patches for skin, intravenous injections, oral pills, herbal tea and many other herbal products.

The herbal medicines are extracted from the natural herbs and clinically prepared in the form of medicines. They are genetically engineered to reduce the fats by either burning them down in body metabolism or throwing out of the body as excretion products in organic forms. These medicines intervene with the metabolism of the human body and burn the extra calories. Now with so many products marketing and increasing business has raised certain questions in the use of these herbal weight loss medicines.

· Are they really effective?

· Do they pose harmful side effects?

· Are they better than simple home remedies?

The answer to the first question is that they are effective to some extent. Many people have got good results in many countries with these herbal weight loss solutions while some other people have even complained about their incompetent nature. Things work out different in different bodies. We can try to alter natural processes but nature too is stubborn sometimes. Hence herbal medicines which particularly suit your genes work better for you indeed.

Secondly many people say that herbal medicines are not chemical in nature which is rather a ridiculous comment. Every living object is organic in nature and organic products simply mean chemical combination reaction products.

Anything which is made from herbs doesn’t mean it is not toxic or is free of side effects. The extracts of the herbs may sometimes cause some allergies in some people. Now why cannot we digest grass? Simply because, our digestive juices cannot digest cellulose!

So try those herbal medicines that have recommendations by the FDA or other recognized clinical certificate. They are harmless and they are effective in their ways.

Combined with some other home remedies, the herbal methods will work wonders to fight obesity. You can include abs stretching and exercising, yoga and good eating as a part of your life to have early results. For example, honey mixed with lime cuts down fat; vegetables like cabbage, tomatoes help in better in synthesizing fats. Avoid bad habits like smoking and junk foods intake. These practices are easy to implement and body friendly for weight loss.

Whatever product you choose to lose your weight, make sure they don’t contain ephedra and are without any caffeine or harmful stimulants. Otherwise herbal products are safe to use and they are effective in losing body weight.

You can also try herbal tea which has been more effective not only to lose body weight but also to ensure a healthy way of living. Simple use of herbal weight antidote either in the form of pills or injection or patches won’t work for you. So judicially combine some physical exercises and sports to your daily activities.

Try to walk a mile every day. If it is not possible always, try at least three-four days a week. Maintain a healthy diet intake, free from saturated fats and take more fruits and vegetables to keep the nightmare called “obesity” at bay.

All Natural Weight Loss Supplement Hoodia Gordonii

All Natural Weight Loss Supplement - Hoodia Gordonii was written by Paul Callis and writes "In my time I have been an international competitive swimmer, ranked number 1 in the UK, in the top 20 worldwide, represented England, and won medals at World level. Having been in the environment of top class athletes, and everyday healthy people, I have become very knowledgeable in the area of nutrition and fitness. Still maintaining regular fitness and excellent nutritional levels, I regularly converse with many people of all types of fitness levels. The majority, at fitness centers, are obese and vastly over weight, constantly looking for ways to lose weight.

Spending years training in public, and seeing bodily changes on a day to day basis, I have become very familiar with Hoodia Gordonii, and have seen rapid improvements, that have in turn had life changing effects on people, and all for the better.

You may be wondering what Hoodia Gordonii is, and may have heard from the newspapers and television..

It is grown in the Kalahari Desert region of South Africa, Hoodia Gordonii is an all-natural appetite suppressant, derived from a cactus-like plant with prickly spikes. Scientists have been researching the Hoodia plant for almost a decade, and have found it to be completely free of harmful side effects.

The active ingredient in Hoodia Gordonii, the molecule known as P57, imitates the effects that glucose has on your brain, signaling that you are full. Your brain has what is called a Hypothalamus. This part of your brain controls your appetite. When you eat, the glucose levels in your body rise. As these levels go up, the hypothalamus sends off a signal to your cells to stop eating. This is when you start to feel full. Hoodia Gordonii's molecule, P57, tells your brain the same exact thing, even if you haven't eaten a bite. By mimicking the effects of glucose on your brain, the hypothalamus starts to send messages to your cells which in turn, make you feel full.

Take Hoodia Diet Pills with a Smart Diet, Not a Starvation Diet

Take Hoodia Diet Pills with a Smart Diet, Not a Starvation Diet was written by Andrew Aitaken and writes "Could Hoodia weight loss supplements fulfill the expectations of dieters and impact the United States obesity troubles? Today fifty million Americans are attempting to slim down with just a low five percent sustaining the weight loss they are seeking. Can Hoodia, the new comer on the scene, assist you to be in that small percentage that gets there, one of the few that will be able to lose the pounds and not have it them come back? From initial reports it may have a chance if these Hoodia pills are not abused and taken in an improper way. The Hoodia Gordonii African weight loss supplement can’t do all the work by itself; you can’t just take this pill, sit back and watch it do a miraculous make over on your body. Hoodia will help you to not be hungry, but this is only the beginning of the process; what follows needs to be regular meals with good nutrition and some form of physical exercise.

If Hoodia is going to accomplish what no other diet pill has ever done, help people to keep the weight off; dieters are going to need to look at this supplement in a different way than they have all the pills that have come before. We need to look at why it is that we have so many supplements for dieters on the store shelves and yet just a small number of people in reality lose the weight? To look at the state of obesity in America effectively you need to step aside from the examination of diet pills and weight loss supplements like Hoodia and observe the bigger picture. Who are American’s embodying in their daily lives that have them have such problems with their weight. To follow are some rationales I believe people in United States have adopted with regard to weight loss; holding these ideas could play a role in making it difficult to lose the weight and keep it off..

• Being preoccupied with our weight; we think being thin equates to a happy life. We think we will find romance, the best career and friends if we are at the right weight. Because of this we will jump on virtually any diet fad or diet pill that comes along.

• Idolizing everybody in the media; we look up to these people and want to be like the people we see on television, films and magazines. Something that we don’t understand is that for movie stars and people on TV being thin is just a part of their profession. They are required to be a particular size to fit in their character and obtain the acting jobs they want to get; they then have their trainer’s and dietitians work with them to help accomplish it. You have to think about the fact that these actors and actresses in show business also make up a very small part of the general population.

• Accessibility of junk food; our lives are busy, fast paced and stressed; because of this our lives suffer in the domain of eating good foods and physical exercise. We don't think we have the time to eat right and work out so we take easiest route which is fast food, snacking on junk food, eating late at night with no exercise; all this is an equation for being overweight.

• Yo Yo dieting; we go from dieting to not dieting and from one diet program to another diet program. This is not a healthy way to live and unquestionably stops you from staying at your desired weight; studies have shown with "on again, off again dieting" that you gain more overall weight each time you start and stop your weight loss program. With our overall weight only increasing we become more desperate to find that magical diet pill that will give us the results we can't manage to achieve on our own.

• Quick Weight Loss; we are always looking for the fastest way to lose weight, that magic weight loss supplement or fad diet that will take those pounds off instantly without exercising or eating right. We refuse to listen to old adages like "if it's too good to be true, it probably is", instead we hope this time it will be different, this time it will work. We just can't accept the fact that true, healthy weight loss doesn't happen fast. In reality attaining your goal weight takes time and dedication; it takes doing things you may not want to do, such as eating foods that are not as tasty as usual and getting to the gym and sweating some of those pounds off.

If Hoodia, the new weight loss supplement from Africa is going to have any chance of helping people sustain a healthy weight, a few of the issues above will have to be addressed. Hoodia is not the magic diet pill that will melt the pounds off. In fact Hoodia won’t actually make you lose weight at all; it doesn’t do what other diet pills do; which is quickening your metabolism so you burn calories. What Hoodia does do is fool the brain into thinking your stomach is full. So if your plan is to just take Hoodia pills without proper nutrition, then know that what you are doing is the equivalency of going on a starvation diet. If you are not aware of this, let me tell you starvation diets don’t work; you may have weight loss at first but in the end you will gain the weight you lost back and more. You slow down your metabolism when you don't eat on a regular basis during the day; then once you start eating again regularly your body stores more fat than it did before. Hoodia will help you not be hungry but if you just don't eat you won't be doing yourself any favor, you will gain that weight back and you'll blame it on the Hoodia.

Hoodia taken properly, with a good nutritional program that includes exercise and healthy approach to dieting could aid with weight loss and perhaps give you the edge you've been looking for in loosing weight. Hoodia diet pills can assist dieters with weight loss if they use them intelligently, as an aid in addition to a good weight loss plan. Hoodia will benefit most any dieter’s program including the Atkins Diet, the Zone Diet, the South Beach Diet, Low Carb Diet or any other of today’s popular diet plans. Hoodia is an all natural supplement with no none side effects and has been proven to help people reduce calorie intake by 1,000 calories a day. Reducing your calorie intake, eating healthy foods and regular exercise can be a triple threat to obesity; this is the approach you should take if you’re thinking of using Hoodia. Create a weight loss program for yourself that will be realistic and manageable long term, think in terms of a way of life, not a quick fix.

Taking a Hoodia supplement may help you in many of the tough battles along the way in your weight loss journey. Hoodia's effect of enabling you to not be hungry can be very beneficial when it comes to not snacking on junk foods, late night eating, eating better foods and an overall reduction in calories. You should also be educated when it comes to selecting the right brand of Hoodia for you; not all Hoodia brands are the same. A few of the top brands of Hoodia are: Desert Burn Hoodia, Hoodoba and Hoodia Max; consult a Hoodia comparison chart to find out which brand is right for you. Hoodia may be just the thing you have been looking for if it's used in the right way, let it help you change your approach to weight loss from fad dieting and magic pills to proper nutrition and a healthy way of life.

There is no need to take Hoodia diet pills forever, just use them as a weight loss aid to get into a better dieting regime where you can maintain a healthy weight. Taking Hoodia while making good dieting choices could put you well on your way to being one of the five percent of the population that keeps the weight off for good. Hoodia is the Solution to Weight Loss

Hoodia is the Solution to Weight Loss was written by Viviana Aida and she writes "Overweight and obesity are actual problems for the American population, but much more for women who are trying to look better.

Close to 60 million Americans are overweight or obese, but the problem is more relevant into the minorities. Acording to the Obesity Research conducted by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the hispanic population was the most overweighted in the ethnic groups in 2000. Estimations reach to more than 20 million people.

Hoodia Diet is the solution for safe weight loss. Hoodia Gordonii contains a natural active ingredient, P57, which has only recently been identified. The P57 works as an appetite suppressant..

Taking Hoodia Diet Tablets when you are hungry alleviates the feeling of hunger and so makes you less likely to snack between meals due to hunger.

The Hoodia Gordonii Cactus has been used by the San indigenous people of South Africa for hundreds of years as an appetite suppressant and thirst quencher.

Extracts from this succulent have shown in clinical trials on obese subjects to reduce caloric intake by 30% to 40%. Significant weight loss has resulted from such a drop in caloric intake.

Therefore, Hoodia is one of the best and most powerful natural appetite suppressant available, if used in conjunction with any diet. Hoodia will help you to stop snacking between meals. It will also help you to reduce the amount that you eat at meal times.

Dieting is not easy, you need to make your mind up that you are going to choose a diet plan that appeals to you and use Hoodia Diet Tablets to help you stick to your diet by reducing your daily calorie intake.

Some users of Hoodia simply take the tablets 3 times a day, one hour before normal meal times, and this will allow them to eat less at each meal, so reducing daily calorie intake.

Others find a low carb or low fat diet and take Hoodia Diet Tablets to stop them feeling hungry between these meals.

Why is Hoodia Such a Sought After Weight Loss Supplement?

Andrew Aitaken has written 'Why is Hoodia Such a Sought After Weight Loss Supplement?' and writes "Hoodia Gordonii is an unambitious little South African desert cactus type plant that has a big future ahead of it. A gift from the native San people who live in the Kalahari Desert in South Africa, this tiny plant the natives' call "Xhoba" has already began impacting the world of weight loss with its extraordinary hunger stopping traits. What the Aboriginal San Bushmen have known for a long time and the rest of us are merely beginning to realize is that Hoodia has appetite suppressant qualities distinguished by plant scientists and named P57. This P57 active element has been examined, tested and identified to have the power to reduce calorie intake by up to 1,000 calories a day.

So will any South African cactus do when it comes to helping you to stay away from snacks? Indeed not, don't go to the local florist and buy yourself a desert cactus to eat. Of the succulent and asclepiad genus there are 2,000 species of ascleoiadaceae, divided into 300 genera, half from the succulent category. Hoodia Pseudolithos and Trichocaulon are members of the Trichocaulon sub-section from the Kalahari Desert region of S. Africa that touches Angola, Botswana and Namibia. Hoodia Gordonii is the name of the cactus you will want to get but don't plan on taking a outing to the South Africa and getting some Hoodia cacti for yourself; the Hoodia desert cactus are under strict control by the S. African government. It is considered an endangered plant and only Hoodia cactus farmers with certification may produce and sell the Hoodia..

Can Hoodia affect the world's obesity problem and help the planet be a slimmer place? Business organizations including, Council for Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), Phytopharm, Pfizer and most recently Slim Fast all believe so. All of these companies have banked on Hoodia's success and together have invested millions of dollars, wanting to corner the marketplace on weight loss. Looking at Hoodia's journey from Xhoba, plant of The San Bushmen to being today's miracle plant for weight loss we need to first look at where Hoodia's been over the past thirty plus years. The greatest amount of time, CSIR analyzed Hoodia to isolate the molecule p57, once they eventually obtained it; they then sold the rights of p57 to Phytopharm. In 1998 The Phytopharm Company leased marketing rights to Pfizer, who invested thirty-two million only to subsequently drop out of the scene because p57 was too expensive to synthesize as a pill. Pfizer's situation has now been taken over by The Unilever Corporation, the parent company of Slim Fast. Slim Fast at present plans on delivering a Hoodia weight loss supplement to nutritional stores in a couple years.

Almost a year ago, on November of 2004, the Hoodia plant contracted big media coverage when CBS's Sixty Minutes did a show on Hoodia's appetite suppressant qualities. With the 60 minute TV exposure, Hoodia was now wanted plant by dieters all-round the globe. People having a hard time staying on their diets desired Hoodia now, not in a couple of years, the secret was out and Hoodia was becoming an indispensable plant. I'm sure after that 60 minutes program was aired, numbers of dieters looked into moving to the Kalahari Desert and making themselves a tiny Hoodia garden of their very own. Luckily, as it is today there isn't a reason to go to that extent, where there is a consumer need; there are many businesses happy to fill that request. There were a few businesses that were informed of Hoodia before the news coverage broke and were in the right place at the right time. It didn't take long though for numerous other organizations to create associations with South African Hoodia Gordonii growers and get Hoodia supplements into stores.

Nowadays there are numerous brands marketing both Hoodia powder form and extracts; how long will the Hoodia plant supply last is the question on dieter's minds right now. The Hoodia Gordonii succulent is a very hard plant to grow; the plants need very much care and management with irrigating, temperature and sunshine. Where it stands today there are only a couple of Hoodia harvesting centers in the South Africa and the Hoodia plant takes two to three years before it's ready to be exported. Taking this into account, the multi-million dollar question is, for how many months can the Hoodia succulent plant export continue? Because of this situation buyers should be aware if the Hoodia they are getting has been independently tested and certified to be pure Hoodia Gordonii from South Africa. There are companies out there taking advantage of the great demand and interest in Hoodia and supplying a low quality product.

Uncover Hoodia Weight Loss Testimonials

Uncover Hoodia Weight Loss Testimonials was written by Dan Ho and he writes "It seems like everytime you turn your head you are hearing about more hoodia weight loss testimonials.

These testimonials are even coming from major news sources (both TV and print) that have reported on the amazing hoodia plant.

For example, BBC Correspondent Tom Mangold remarked: "But more significantly, we did not even think about food. Our brains really were telling us we were full. It was a magnificent deception."

Or this one from Leslie Stahl for CBS 60 Minutes: "I'd have to say [Hoodia Gordonii] did work." after she went to South Africa to try some hoodia herself firsthand..

After the media onslaught more and more people are becoming aware of the seemingly magical appetite suppressing qualities of this amazing plant.

Hoodia products are now appearing all over the Internet and as time passes hoodia weight loss testimonials continue to mount.

To be sure, many of these testimonials are an encouraging testament to the power of hoodia gordonii and the success people are having with it for achieving their weight loss goals.

On the other hand, it's important to also be somewhat skeptical of hoodia weight loss testimonials as it's pretty easy to fabricate a testimonial, wouldn't you agree?

So what you should focus on is the quality of any hoodia product you would consider purchasing.

In my opinion, the top indicator to look for is something called the hoodia CITES certificate displayed on the website of the hoodia vendor.

You see, hoodia gordonii is an extremely rare plant that is tough to grow and takes a long time to mature.

In addition, South Africa is the only place in the world where it grows natively.

Because the demand for hoodia products are much higher than the supply of real hoodia gordonii, a lot of products on the market don't even contain the real stuff -- in short, they are fraudulent.

One of the best ways we know of to make sure you are getting real South African hoodia gordonii is to look for the hoodia CITES certificate since this is needed to export hoodia gordonii legally out of South Africa.

In the end, hoodia weight loss testimonials are inspiring to read, especially by people who want to shed weight and fat themselves, but the most important thing to do is to carefully select a quality product if you want results.

What You Should Know Before You Buy Hoodia Weight Loss Pills

What You Should Know Before You Buy Hoodia Weight Loss Pills was written by Patsy Hamilton and writes "While many people lose weight with hoodia gordonii dietary supplements, they do not work for everyone. The question is what exactly caused the lack of results for those people. Hoodia weight loss pills should work as an appetite suppressant, if they contain genuine hoodia gordonii. Research by Phytopharm (the company which owns the patent for the active molecule in hoodia gordonii) and at Brown University supports the effectiveness of hoodia gordonii as an appetite suppressant. So, how does the consumer know if the product they are about to purchase contains genuine hoodia gordonii?

Many governments in South Africa (country of origin for hoodia gordonii) have placed strict limitations on the exportation of hoodia gordonii. Manufacturers of hoodia weight loss pills must be licensed by these South African governments, if their products contain genuine hoodia gordonii. Those manufactures who are licensed will display a CITES certification on their websites or product package. Those consumers who are hoping to lose weight with hoodia should look for this certification, but beware, there are companies which say that they have a CITES certificate, but will only make it available for inspection upon purchase. One such company is being investigated for selling counterfeit hoodia weight loss pills..

Hoodia gordonii is expensive and quantities are limited. The hoodia weight loss pills sold “off the shelf” in discount pharmacies probably contain little or no hoodia gordonii. Reputable manufactures may offer discounts and free shipping on multiple bottles, but if the price is too low, then the consumer should beware. Genuine herbs of all kinds are relatively expensive. Anyone who purchases herbs for other health benefits and wants to lose weight with hoodia has an advantage over those who are unfamiliar with herbs. They know that a quality product does not come cheaply.

There are stories on the web written by people who have been unable to get a refund on hoodia weight loss pills. These stories are written by people who say that they were not able to lose weight with hoodia. This situation is easily avoidable. Reputable companies display return information on their websites. It may seem like a lot of trouble to read this information about return authorizations and other limitations, but it is worthwhile. Only a few companies will accept returns of opened bottles if a customer is unable to lose weight with hoodia. Hoodia XR is one that does.

Reputable companies will not make claims about their products that are “too good to be true”. Anyone who wants to lose weight with hoodia must reduce their daily caloric intake and increase their activity. Hoodia weight loss pills are appetite suppressants. They may help dieters stick to their plans and achieve their goals, but they will not work in any other way. Hoodia weight loss pills do not burn fat off while we sleep or “melt” the pounds away as some products are advertised to do. Some may ask, “If I have to eat less and exercise, then why should I take hoodia?” The answer to that question is, “If you can stick to a low calorie diet and exercise regularly without feeling deprived, hungry and exhausted, then you are probably not overweight.”

In conclusion, to those who are interested in trying to lose weight with hoodia weight loss pills, buy genuine hoodia gordonii from a reputable company that sells other health supplements or herbs and openly displays their return policy in writing.

Is there any Hoodia in that Hoodia Weight Loss Product?

Richard Keir has written "Is there any Hoodia in that Hoodia Weight Loss Product?" and writes "Gotten any email spam lately with a 'warning' about buying fake Hoodia products or Hoodia products with a variety of fillers?

Of course, they assure you that THEIR product is 'the original product.' It may be the original product, whatever that might mean, but the chances of it containing Hoodia are pretty close to zero.

Or maybe you're getting the spam about Hoodia 92--, whatever, or one about getting into skinny jeans or having men chase you, or the brickwall last 18 pounds spam with the large "disc0unts". Obviously the spammers see this as a potentially lucrative market. If any of the spam tempts you, you really need to be aware of a few things about Hoodia..

The whole diet area is scam heaven for unscrupulous, dishonest con artists selling products that do nothing and cost a lot. The few legitimate ones can be nearly impossible to identify among the fakes.

Legally, only one company has the license to market Hoodia as a weight loss product. Hoodia gordonii, as a weight loss product, has been patented by CSIR (the South African Council for Scientific and Industrial Research) and patents have been submitted in territories all over the world. Exclusive license for these patents belongs to Phytopharm, a bio-pharmaceutical company.

The main problem is that Hoodia is a slow growing succulent (it looks sort of like a cactus) which grows wild in limited areas in South Africa, Namibia and Botswana. While not endangered (yet), it is listed in Appendix II of CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora). That means there are legal controls on collecting Hoodia and on exporting it.

Hoodia contains a molecule called P57 (catchy name, isn't it?). According to Phytopharm's Dr Richard Dixey, P57 essentially tricks the brain into feeling full. No side effects except a sense of feeling good have yet been identified but clinical trials are still underway to ensure that the Hoodia extract is safe. Unfortunately, while P57 can be artificially made, the process cannot be scaled up to produce commercial quantities at affordable prices.

Phytopharm is, however, in the process of developing extensive Hoodia plantations. This takes time since Hoodia has never been cultivated before and all the problems of pests, plant diseases, correct growing conditions, etc. have to be figured out.

What all this really means is that right now the quantities of real Hoodia available are extremely limited. Some legitimate supplement companies have even been scammed by their suppliers into believing that they were receiving genuine Hoodia when they were getting roots, other succulents, sawdust, etc.

As a consumer, you are likely to get burned buying any weight loss product that is supposed to contain Hoodia unless it has been licensed by Phytopharm. Food supplements (NOT labeled as a weight loss product) may or may not contain Hoodia. Ones that may actually contain Hoodia may not have enough to have any weight loss effect. Some may contain Hoodia, but not the active ingredient (that P57 molecule).

At this point, Phytopharm is planning to bring out various food products containing Hoodia gordonii, hopefully by 2008.

Meanwhile, unless it's a Pytopharm product, if it claims to be Hoodia and to be for weight loss, at the very least the marketing is illegal and infringes on Phytopharm's rights, and, most probably, the product has either none of the necessary product or too little to be effective.

Once real Hoodia products do become more widely available, they could be extremely helpful in weight reduction and appetite control. But now? Over the internet? Scams seem to rule, so be prepared to waste your money. While Hoodia certainly appears to work - and probably is safe, your chances of actually getting Hoodia, unless you are very careful, make focusing on maintaining a workable diet and exercise program a much more certain alternative for losing weight.

Does Hoodia the African Weight Loss Secret Actually Work?

Andrew Aitaken was written "Does Hoodia, the African Weight Loss Secret, Actually Work?" and writes "Astounding as some dieters say the new Hoodia weight loss supplement is, other dieters say it’s a fake and doesn’t work at all. If you’re not familiar with Hoodia Gordonii, it’s the new fad in dieting products. It comes from a cactus type plant in South Africa and has been eaten there for thousands of years by the aboriginal natives. The San Bushmen in the Kalahari Desert eat the Hoodia succulent plant by picking off a piece before a hunting trip or period of time they know they won’t have much food to eat. By ingesting the piece of Hoodia they know that they will not be hungry for the entire day. This of course is very helpful when you are living in the desert and the availability of food is very scarce.

So what about if your living in middle America and are looking for something to help you curb your cravings and keep of the pounds, will Hoodia do the trick? It depends on who you ask, some dieters say it is the magic pill and will help you lose the weight with no side effects. Other people will say, “I tried it and it did absolutely nothing for me”. How can this be the case you might ask, one person swears to it and one swears at it. It’s actually no mystery at all if you know what is happening in the industry. Hoodia has gained huge popularity due to increased media exposure; so far since last November Hoodia has been on CBS 60 minutes, the BBC, CBS News, Oprah Winfrey’s “O” Magazine, ABC News and most recently it was featured on the NBC Today Show with Katie Couric. Because of this news coverage the demand for Hoodia has greatly increased and along with this, the amount of companies providing fake or impure Hoodia has also greatly increased..

If I can stress only one thing in this Hoodia article, it would be to know what is in the Hoodia you are buying. When it comes to buying Hoodia, you have to be an informed buyer; you can’t just buy the first Hoodia Pills you see. And unlike other supplements you buy at your nutritional store, in the case of Hoodia, you can’t trust brick and mortar stores anymore than you can an online company. There is no regulation when it comes to Hoodia pills; there is no testing process or certification that a Hoodia brand has to go through. Because of this anybody can start a new Hoodia brand, put whatever they want in a pill and call it Hoodia and sell it. Many companies are doing just this, making lots of profit and leaving you the dieter with a bogus product, the dieter then tells others, “hey, this Hoodia stuff is no good”.

Natural Health Report has published a study done by Truth Publishing and Alkemist Pharmaceuticals located at: naturalhealthreport.com/A-Hoodia-Gordonii-exposed.html, the study findings state that eleven out of seventeen brand-name Hoodia supplements tested failed a laboratory analysis of authenticity. Unfortunately in the study they don't say which brands failed but they do say which brands passed.

The following brands passed the independent testing:
* Desert Burn
* Hoodoba Pure
* Dr. Wheeler's Afrigetics
* King Hoodia
* Hoodia Max
* Ethno Africa

Eleven out of seventeen brand names failed to be authentic, to me that is an amazing statistic and says a lot about the industry. Looking at those statistics we can now see why some dieters are saying Hoodia is wonderful and helps you lose weight and others are calling it a scam. The truth is there is both authentic pure Hoodia and bogus fake Hoodia available and what you get will determine how you feel about it.

This information should not necessarily stop you from buying Hoodia, as there are many reports of Hoodia decreasing you appetite by up to 1,000 calories a day and many people trying to lose weight swear by its results. Like we have stated before you just need to be very cautious and be able to identify pure Hoodia from ineffective and impure Hoodia. So how can you identify which Hoodia brand is best? Here are some things the consumer should look for: * Certification - the company should provide a visual documentation on their website that the Hoodia they are selling is authentic Hoodia Gordonii from South Africa.

* Independent Testing – some of the top companies selling Hoodia are now submitting their product for independent testing to assure the customer their Hoodia is authentic and set them apart from the competition. If the brand has been tested you will again most likely be able to see visual documentation on their website.

* You should be know if the product is a pure powder or in extract form. There is a lot of information on the internet as to which is better and you should be informed on which kind you want to buy.

* Know what all the ingredients in the pill are - many companies will increase the total milligrams of a Hoodia pill by adding other ingredients to it, so in a 750 mg. pill you might only get 50 mg. of Hoodia. Also know if those other ingredients are something you want to be taking.

* Brand Reputation – the longer Hoodia is around the more people are talking about which brand is working for them. Do some internet searches on the brand you are thinking of trying and see if you find that lots of people are having problems with that brand. You have to take general public comments with a grain of salt though because many company owners have people spreading bad publicity about their competition.

* Common Sense – overall use your common sense about your purchase. Does the company not disclose much information? Do they have easy way to contact them? Do they have any type of guarantee? Also, especially when it comes to eBay, does the label of the product look like it was printed on a home inkjet printer? Also be wary of deep discounted Hoodia, there may be a reason it’s so cheap.

In closing, when it comes to Hoodia the consumer will need to stay cautious for awhile, the situation may get worse before it gets better. Demand for Hoodia is growing, supply is decreasing and the wholesale cost is increasing. What does this formula equal? It equals bad news for the dieter who wants to get some authentic Hoodia; there will be a lot of fake Hoodia out there. Give Hoodia a try, just do your homework first, be an informed, educated buyer and you may find that you truly have found a product to help you shed those extra pounds with no side effects.

Why The Gastric Bypass Surgery Does Not Stick!

Greg Ryan has written Weight Loss Problems? - Why The Gastric Bypass Surgery Does Not Stick! and writes "Gastric bypass surgeries are temporary physical fixes to a long term head problem! If you think the surgery is a cure all, think again. The crazy thing is people are gaining weight on purpose so they can be qualified to even be considered for the surgery. How sick is that?

My Aunt had gastric bypass surgery last year. She was so excited about her new body that she was going to get after the surgery. She just could not wait for her new life to begin. This was an answer to her prayers. So she thought!

Up until then, my aunt had not exercised a day in her life. Never followed a sensible eating plan, nor did she want to. By the looks of it, none of my family had ever sacrificed anything in the way of food. The doctor's had boosted her up; her children were totally delusional about their mom's weight and danced around the issue so much my aunt was in total denial. And guess what? True to form, she gained the weight back in eight months. Why?

The answer is; you can not build a house on a foundation made of sand. If you do not deal with what is underneath the surface in your emotional behavior toward your eating and exercise, you will go right back to the beginning, no matter what you take out or do to your body. Surgery or no surgery, there is no cure all for being overweight. Well, there is but do you want to hear it? Here it is:

1. Decide how you are motivated.

2. Determine your underlying reasons for your eating and exercise behaviors or lack of.

3. Develop the best support system for you.

4. Deal with the emotions behind your food patterns.

5. Dedicate yourself to an exercise program.

Ok, maybe the surgery works in the short run. And maybe that will buy you some time and gives you some inspiration to start exercising and eating better. However, it is not means to the end! It does not do any good for your head, maybe your stomach. If you do decide to have the surgery, please understand that with out deep changes in your thought process the gastric bypass surgery will not stick.

What is Back to Normal After Gastric Bypass Surgery?

Kaye Bailey has written "What is Back to Normal After Gastric Bypass Surgery?" and writes "It is common for new WLS patients to ask, "How soon after surgery will I get back to normal?" This is understandable. We've spent a lifetime dieting for the short-term - the 30-day diet, the six-week program, the lose-ten-pounds-over-the-weekend diet. Remember thinking, "If I can stick with this plan for just 10 days, then I can go back to normal."

The diet industry has conditioned us to think long-term lifestyle changes are unnecessary to accomplish weight loss. We are impatient and demanding, we want a quick fix. Expectations are unrealistic and result in failure, disappointment and self-loathing..

But weight loss surgery is for life.To that end, we must re-define normal:

Normal is living without co-morbidities: asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, heartburn, and knee and back pain.

Normal is feeling your body in motion, walking up stairs briskly, and bending to tie your shoes.

Normal is playing children's games on the floor and getting up without struggling.

Normal is hearing compliments about how great you look.

Normal is ACCEPTING compliments about how great you look.

Normal is fastening an airplane lap belt and pulling it tight.

Normal is enjoying clothes shopping.

Normal is the thrill of amusement park rides.

Normal is waking up early to jump on the scale - and thrilling at the number.

Normal is living without the incessant distraction of food and the relentless hunger.

Normal is feeling proud - not ashamed - of your body.

Normal is savoring food one bite at a time, not ravaging it.

Normal is having the power - the tiny tummy - to control eating behavior.

Normal is eating three meals a day and not snacking in between - and doing just fine.

Normal is feeling immediate discomfort when too much food, or the wrong food is consumed.

Normal is taking vitamins every day.

Normal is drinking water - lots of water.

Normal is enjoying exercising!

Normal is boundless energy.

Normal is a positive outlook, not fearing the doom of an early, miserable death for obesity related health complications.

Normal is eating lean protein at every meal.

Normal is declining doughnuts or pizza - and not feeling deprived!

Normal is making healthy eating and behavior modification a lifestyle for the whole family.

Normal is quality food, not gluttonous quantity.

Normal is taking responsibility for your own health and wellness.

Normal is respecting the science of your body, respecting the tiny tummy, and respecting yourself.

Normal is constant attention to weight maintenance.

Normal is feeling deep compassion for the obese.

Normal is being scared of the rapid transformation your body makes.

Normal is bouts of anger over years of self-loathing, discrimination, isolation and suffering.

Normal is the occasional departure from the rules that results in dumping or vomiting.

Normal is a rapid return to appropriate eating behavior.

Normal is seeing, for a time, a stranger in the mirror.

Normal is freeing yourself from obesity's prison.

Normal is understanding that the pre-surgical behaviors and habits were unhealthy, destructive and abusive.

What to Eat After Gastric Bypass Surgery

What to Eat After Gastric Bypass Surgery was written by Beverley Brooke and he writes "Many people are under the impression that gastric bypass surgery is the easy way out of obesity. However, those that believe this unfortunately misunderstand the operation and its lifestyle and mind altering effects.

After speaking to people who have had the gastric bypass you soon realise that real work and focus is needed to actually keep the weight off after the first year of rapid weight loss. Right after surgery your stomach won't be able to cope with much food, perhaps only a quarter of a cup of solid food. This will increase over time, but eating too much could make you vomit - you must stop eating as soon as you feel hungry..

Most nutrition's agree that 3 solid food meals a day is sufficient for those who've had gastric bypass surgery, making sure you drink enough water in-between so you don't dehydrate but don't eat and drink together - you're small stomach simply can't handle it and you may be sick!

With any healthy balanced diet, eating nutritious meals will serve your body well - reduce fatty and sugary meals and focus on protein rich foods such as fish and chicken. Google is your friend and there are many websites out there giving example diets specifically for those who've recently had gastric bypass surgery.

Article by Beverley Brooke, visit the section on the gastric bypass at her website for more on the gastric bypass.

Gastric Bypass Surgery Alternative

Gastric Bypass Surgery Alternative was written Jon Yarbrough and writes "I am considering Gastric bypass surgery because I am overweight, in fact I am a least 100 pounds over my ideal weight making me obese. I have tried the Atkins diet and had some success but I gained the weight right back in just over a month.

I have tried diet after diet with little to no success; so gastric bypass surgery is definitely something that someone in my position should at least consider.

After some research, I found that gastric bypass surgery is very dangerous, several complications can occur up to and including death. I found myself wondering if I really wanted to go through something that actually has a death rate..

While searching for gastric bypass surgery information I found a pill that claimed to be "a gastric bypass in a bottle". It sounded ridiculous, somewhat like the claims I get in my email box for a miracle grow formula for my manhood. Despite my doubts, I was at least curious enough to check them out, and I am glad I did.

I do believe this could be the gastric bypass surgery alternative I have been looking for. If you are considering gastric bypass surgery you should at least check them out for yourself.

http://www.bypass-gastric-surgery.info/pills

Gastric bypass surgery may be dangerous but regardless of what you decide, gastric bypass surgery or an alternative, not doing anything is the most dangerous by far.

Hypnosis For Weightloss

Hypnosis For Weightloss was written by Rex Truman and writes "Are you on a diet? If so, then you are probably beset with constant thoughts of food. You undoubtedly seek desperately for some sort of distraction, something that will take your mind off your empty stomach. Because all dieters experience this stress, this pull toward what they need to avoid, more and more people have tried using hypnosis for weightloss.

In order to avoid constantly having to diet, you must learn to improve the nature of the food you eat. Hypnosis can help you to rethink your food choices. If you use hypnosis for weightloss, then you will find that you can think of toast and cereal as a satisfying breakfast. You can easily replace a burger lunch with a salad. You will find yourself preferring rice or pasta dishes to meat and potatoes. You see, being overweight is a result of overeating, and once you get some help to change your attitude to food and eating you will not feel the need to overeat..

Hypnosis can help deal with overeating

Hypnosis can help you, a former overeater, to deal with that most prevalent and hard-to-control habitat snacking. Hypnosis destroys the temptation to snack on unhealthy foods – often these unhealthy foods contain too much sugar, salt and hydrogenated fat. Not only do these increase your weight, but they will make you unhealthy.

If you are willing to use hypnosis for weightloss, then you will change the frequency and nature of your snacks. You will snack less often, and when you do snack, you will content yourself with some fresh fruit and water.

Hypnosis offers you, the overeater, and one further benefit. Hypnosis helps you to deal with the bombardment of suggestions that you should want to super size the portions on your plate (or in the bag that you get at some fast-food place). Hypnosis can help you to convince yourself that you are satisfied with smaller portions. Hypnosis can prevent you from sabotaging your body by returning again and again to the offer of a free refill.

Although you cannot end the super sizing phenomenon, you can use hypnosis to deal with its existence. You can use hypnosis for weightloss. You can cause yourself to have a greater respect for the human body and to monitor more closely, what you put in yours. Give it a try, and then look in the mirror. You will be delighted with your decision to use hypnosis for weightloss.

Rex Truman is a writer who has studied hypnosis, and shares his findings with people who want to know more about this therapy at http://www.hypnosis-selfhypnosis.com

Best Weight Loss Diet Plan

Best Weight Loss Diet Plan was written by A. McKain and he writes "Every time when we speak about a weight loss program it does not mean strictly scheduling an exercise program and performing workouts that are really painful. Nor does it mean consumption of foods that taste awful but are highly nutritious. It is enough if you arrange for an exercise program that is flexible and stick to a proper weight loss diet, a diet that includes tasty and wholesome food.

You could try to eat only grapefruit for month, but the chances are high that after a few days you will bag the entire idea and revert to your old ways of eating. High protein diet fads were the rage for a while, and it was virtually impossible to turn on the television without hearing about how one celebrity or another follows the some diets to look so svelte.

In reality, trying to omit certain foods from your diet permanently rarely works for the long haul. If you try to ban whole grains, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and legumes from your diet because they contain carbohydrates, your body will step up the craving factor and you will find it harder to resist these foods. The body is set up to crave what it needs to survive. There is absolutely nothing wrong with eating carbohydrates, especially complex carbohydrates, because these foods do not make you fat. What makes people fat is taking in more calories than are being expended on a daily basis..

In other words, you may be eating healthy foods, but if you do not get moving on a regular basis through exercise, your body will begin to pack on the pounds. As we age, our metabolisms naturally begin to slow down. That being said, it does not mean that you should severely restrict the number of calories you take in to lose weight. On the contrary-what it means is that you need to get active to boost your metabolism and keep those calories from turning into extra fat. The best way to do this is through a combined exercise program of weight training and aerobics, three to five days per week as a minimum.

The important point to keep in mind is that food should not be considered the enemy in the quest to lose weight. Wholesome foods sustain us, give us the energy we need to survive the day, and aid our cells in regeneration. If you need to lose some weight, I encourage you to learn the facts, and apply them to your own life. Diet Fads are worthless. Once you understand what it takes to lose weight safely, you will realize just how much your body needs all types of food to help you accomplish your goals.

Eat reasonably in order to make a difference to your physique. Do not consume less or more, eat in moderation and according to your diet plan.

As you need to stay with the weight loss program throughout your life, choose activities or a diet that you can easily abide to. Prepare a weight loss chart and follow it with discipline to lose weight.

To stay fit, you need to be disciplined and follow a weight loss diet plan.

8 Proven Weight Loss Tips

8 Proven Weight Loss Tips was written by Beth and writes "There are a lot of "crash" diets out there that promise that you'll drop a considerable amount of weight in days or a week.

I have tried a few of these, and in my experience the weight always comes back on, just as quickly since the weight loss tips given are not something that will work with your body.

One thing you don't want to do if you are actually serious about losing weight is to follow these fad diets and their ridiculous weight loss tips.

After their ineffectiveness has been proven time and again, people will start to wise up to that particular diet, and will head off in search of a new craze..

Lets be honest, people are always searching for new weight loss tips because they want to lose pounds and they want immediate results, but this is just wishful thinking.

To lose weight permanently and effectively it will be a rather slow progress, all depending on your metabolic rate and how much you need to lose.

There are however some proven tried and true weight loss tips for aiding in the weight loss process, and I can make you familiar with them.

Weight Loss Tip 1
Don't skip breakfast. Whatever you do follow this advice, because otherwise you are much more likely in fact prone to binge later in the day.

Weight Loss Tip 2
Don't eat anything for at least an hour before going to bed.

Weight Loss Tip 3
Don't snack while watching TV. It's acceptable to eat a meal while watching television, but never is snacking at this time acceptable.

Weight Loss Tip 4
Substitute fruits like; bananas, watermelon, plums, peaches, and oranges for sugary treats like; cookies and candy.

Weight Loss Tip 5
Substitute honey for sugar, and carob powder for chocolate in all recipes. These taste just as good if not better when used properly.

Weight Loss Tip 6
Eat more vegetables. This can even be enjoyable if you have a good cookbook like Good housekeeping's latest edition.

Weight Loss Tip 7
Avoid unnecessary high calorie foods. Instead of a high calorie salad dressing for instance try cottage cheese or yogurt to improve the salads taste and peel of the pounds.

Weight Loss Tip 8
Exercise at least a half hour each day for five days out of the week. Biking on a stationery bike while reading is a great form of exercise to slim legs.

In conclusion there is nothing stopping you from losing weight except yourself. Get off the "I can't do anything about my weight problem" bandwagon and start dropping pounds today!

Healthy Weight Loss Diet Plan

A Healthy Weight Loss Diet Plan was written by Robin Miller and he writes "All overweight people yearn for some kind of dieting miracle ... something like Cinderella's fairy godmother who will wave her magic wand and produce an instantly slim body. Alas, this isn't going to happen. Instead, seek a healthy weight loss diet plan instead. The multi billion dollar weight loss industry is loaded with all kinds of illusions. Here is the truth about some of the most popular ones.

1. It's not about "will power" and rigid control.

Often in my dieting days, it seemed as though there was a "Good Me" and a "Bad Me" and they were continually at war. The Good Me had to somehow force the Bad Me into behaving in a proper way. When I didn't 'follow the rules', I felt it was only suitable to punish myself.

The result of such an insane plan? The same old cycle again and again ... deciding to exercise and eat in a sensible way and then failing to do so. The only result is mental turmoil and keeping the pounds piled on.

Choose a weight loss plan that is pleasing, that you want to do. Then it will be easy to follow and the weight loss will be permanent..

2. There is no quick and easy way.

We all like to hear the "Lose 10 pounds in a weekend" stories. But they're only cruel delusions. Even if, by some miracle, you did lose 10 pounds in a weekend, it would come right back. These are nothing but scams - and often dangerous scams, at that. If you are 50 pounds overweight, you know that those pounds didn't appear overnight and it will take time for them to disappear. Be patient and face the reality: genuine weight loss is about lifestyle changes, not quick fixes.

3. Set mini-goals.

If your ultimate goal is to lose 50 pounds, that can seem so far away to be hopeless. So set mini-goals -- and rewards -- along the way. That way you will get constant reinforcement as you move forward and you will be encouraged, rather than discouraged. Your motivation will remain high because you have lost 10 pounds and you have a new outfit, rather than focusing on the 40 still to lose.

4. The weight loss program isn't important, as long as it's healthy.

If a weight loss diet plan really and truly was successful for everyone, there would be no need for new ones. But watch the magazines at the checkout stands of your favorite supermarket or discount store. There are weekly magazines that have a new diet program in every single issue! And these new weight loss programs are usually accompanied by pictures of fabulous food.

In truth, there are only two criteria for a weight loss plan:

* Will it promote your health or worsen it? You might believe that losing weight is the only thing that matters to you and you don't care how it happens. However, if you are sick and weak and can't enjoy anything in your life, you will quickly change your mind. Such extreme measures as having part of your intestine removed certainly cannot be defended by anyone as a health measure.

* Can you enjoy the diet plan enough to follow it? If you won't stick to a weight loss plan, nothing else matters. For instance, I am a vegetarian because I don't like to eat meat. Therefore, a program such as Atkins would be torture to me and there's no way I would ever follow it.

Those who write diet books seem to think that if they simply explain the diet plan well enough, their readers will lose weight. But folks who have excess poundage to lose know that the problem isn't the diet ... it's getting themselves to follow through on the plan that is the problem.

5. Don't suffer over your weight!

Overweight people might find it hard to imagine the instruction to "have fun" when it comes to weight loss. Yet, that's the genuine path to success. Eliminating all stress and suffering over your weight makes it significantly easier to persist until you are happy with your weight.

Concentrate on making it fun! For instance,

* Invent some wonderful new recipes that you adore using only the foods you have decided to eat

* Continually focus on the benefits you expect to receive from being slim? Will you have more energy? Look better in your clothes? Feel confident? Improve your social life? Whatever you will gain, concentrate on that, rather than any feeling of deprivation.

* Create rewards for yourself. They don't have to be financial and can be very short term. If you skipped a piece of cake, reward yourself with an hour of gardening. If you've lost three pounds, take a nap instead of cleaning the bathroom. In this way, you receive constant positive feedback and it encourages you to continue.

* Remember that YOU chose to undertake this. No one is forcing you to do anything and there is nothing to rebel against.

A healthy weight loss plan, once that includes great food and sensible exercise, plus a serene and cheerful mind, cannot help but result in the lean body you crave and deserve.

Atkins Diet Plan Whats The Catch

Atkins Diet Plan - Whats The Catch was written by Martin Smith and he writes "The Atkins diet Plan breakfast can usually composed of eggs strips of bacon and coffee. A snack might include coffee with cream, and chunks of cheese. A huge steak fried in butter could be dinner. Doesn't this sound really good? It seems very tempting but there is a catch.

In the beginning you will have to give up most carbs, such as breads, potatoes, pasta, rice and other things like chocolate, cake, some fruits. In theory, when carbs are eliminated from the diet, the body burns stored fat. Weight loss is quicker because fat burns more calories than carbs.

Stable blood sugar levels help you to feel fuller thereby damping your appetite. The Induction is the first phase of the Atkins diet, which you follow for at least two weeks. Only 20 grams of carbs a day, but you can eat lots of red meat, chicken, fish, eggs cream and butter. That you want..

During this phase, your body learns to burn fat and not carbs. The ongoing weight loss phase is the second stage. Add 5 grams of carbs a day until you get to your critical carbohydrate level for losing weight. How many carbs can YOU eat and still lose between 1 and 3 pounds a week? Bread, pasta rice and potatoes are still taboo.

The pre-maintenance or third phase is started when you have only 5-10 pounds left to lose in order to reach your goal weight. Yes! Now you get to add 10 grams a day for one week, to your carb intake, to help your body adjust to the addition of carbs to your diet, and to the final phase of the diet.

Lifetime maintenance, phase 4, teaches you ways to stay motivated. Your carb intake is limited to 90 grams in a day. You will be eating low carbs for the rest of your life. Some doctors have expressed concern about the long tern effects of the Atkins and other low carb plans.

High saturated fat consumption may cause an increased risk of heart disease. The lack of certain nutrients in this diet could cause future health problems. The limited intake of calcium could possibly put you at risk for Osteoporosis. The low antioxidant nutrients could lead to cancer, heart disease and premature aging.

The Atkins diet is boring in the Induction phase. Vegetarians have a hard time with Atkins, particularly in the early stages, due to the limited amount of vegetables, nuts seeds and beans. The Atkins diet presents an image of good health from a proper diet. Some are concerned that once you go off the diet the weight comes back quickly.

The very low carbs in this diet could cause ketosis which can be dangerous for diabetics. The high cholesterol of this diet may cause constipation and heart disease because of the high fat content. This diet, low in fruits and veggies is consequently low in antioxidants that fight cancer. The Atkins plan is that it's not intended for long term use and has serious side effects.

The Atkins Plan works, it is that simple. Weight loss is rapid and you can eat as much protein and fat, as you would like. The carbs eliminated by the Atkins diet can cause a loss of antioxidants which are known to prevent some cancers.

This high fat, high protein diet can increase the risk of elevated cholesterol and heart disease. This Diet really works, although some believe you can't stay on it long term. If you go off the diet or cheat , you will begin to re-gain the weight. Once you start eating a more normal diet the initial weight loss will return.

As with any diet check with a physician-to make sure you are healthy to begin with. The Atkins diet, some believe, is not for long term use and that it poses some serous health risks. If you are overweight, you are already at risk for heart disease and other health problems, and Atkins could increase those risks.

Atkins Diet Yes or No

Atkins Diet Yes or No was written by Loring Windblad and writes "As of now, January 2005, more than half of all north Americans are struggling with obesity. The “quick fix” for “fat” for the last 40+ years, becoming ever more popular, has become the Atkins Diet. The Atkins Diet was first popularized in the U. S. Air Force during the 1960’s.

The Atkins Diet is very simple --- restrict your carbohydrate intake. And guess what? It actually works. But Dr. Atkins, after the initial few years of his popularized diet, began to make modifications and refinements to the original basic diet. And several other people have taken the basic Atkins Diet, modified it just a little, and come up with a new and very workable diet.

The first thing you must understand is that, across the entire human spectrum, each of us is very different from one another in the chemical makeup of our body. Thus, each of us, individually, should have our own highly personalized, custom built diet, created by a dietician using a chemical makeup assessment, usually a $200 hair analysis, of our particular body type and individual nutritional needs. So far as I know, this technology and this type dietary assessment is still available only through certain holistic health practitioners and it is becoming more and more expensive. As an example, it typically costs now between $200 and $300, whereas in the mid-1970’s it cost between $100 and $150..

There are three major misconceptions to the Atkins diet. The first common myth is many people believe this means don’t worry about the amount of calories or fat you eat so long as its not carbs. The second common myth is many people believe all carbohydrates are equally bad. The third common myth is that the Atkins “Lo-Carb” diet is actually a “Hi-Protein” diet. All of these, however, are enormous misconceptions.

The first myth: many dieters who use this program believe that calories and fat do not matter when eating low carb food, but in some cases this has proven to be fatal. Depending upon your particular body chemistry, when eating high fat food your cholesterol could climb and climb, leading to a heart attack or stroke. Also, it has now been proven that the older we become the less our body is able to metabolize the “high fat” portion of the Atkins “lo carb” diet, leading to additional dietary and health problems.

The second myth: The Atkins Diet is actually a “Lo-Carb” diet, not a “No-Carb” diet. What should be cut out are breads, rice and potatoes. Fresh fruits and vegetables should not be cut back and many should be somewhat increased. Finally, after the first month you can “safely” add breads and potatos --- in limited quantities. One friend of mine eats 1 bite of breads/toasts, etc., served with his meals, such as garlic breads. One bite and not a morsel more.

The third myth: Mention the Atkins Diet and most people’s reaction is “Oh, yes, the ‘high protein’ diet.” Not true at all --- it’s a “Low Carb” diet – protein intake remains unchanged. Some carbs only, not all, are restricted (versus eliminated completely); fats, particularly in older people, need to be restricted; protein should be kept to 4-6 ounce portions per meal, the lower values for breakfast and lunch. What you need to increase is your intake of high-fiber foods such as celery, etc.

The reason why the Atkins Diet works is because your body metabolizes its stored fat (carbohydrates) in order to burn --- digest --- the protein, fiber and fat you are eating. The Atkins Dieters tend to leave out several food groups, including fruit and vegetables, since they are “high carb food”, and then tend to grab a steak instead, which has very low carbohydrates.

This is ridiculous. Why? Because the elimination of carbohydrates and the reduction of the fresh fruits and vegetables actually throws your health into a major imbalance. Overloading your unbalanced diet by an excess of protein intake (adding that steak, above) to “increase the volume” to a satisfying level merely exacerbates this imbalance.

The true danger of the Atkins Diet, however, lies in the fact that, for people who already have health challenges, the Atkins Diet actually worsens some conditions and creates other health challenges that did not exist before the Atkins Diet. The worst of these is Gout. If you have a tendency to suffer gout, no matter how well controlled you have it, a strict Atkins Diet will create a severe gout condition and gout attack for you. If you merely had the tendency for gout with no active gout, the Atkins Diet will precipitate an actual condition of gout in your body. A severe case of gout requires medical intervention to correct as well as long-term dietary control and change. The long-term danger of gout is an increased tendency for heart attack and stroke. See Native’s Gift for one proven help for gout.

If your body type and chemical makeup is suitable for the Atkins Diet then by all means use it. Remember that there are several similar alternatives out there which may be more suitable than a strict Atkins, to include some of Dr. Atkins own later work and recommendations. If you have health challenges, to include a tendency for gout or actually suffer from gout, or have diabetes or any of several other disorders, the Atkins diet is definitely something you need to avoid.

And not just the Atkins Diet. Any and all diets which highly restrict or eliminate one of the essential food groups we all need to maintain optimal health is equally bad. Stop the insanity and use a REAL diet --- the only proven diet which will work for virtually everyone.

What is it? Its actually two things: A food diet and exercise – yes, simple exercise, like walking a mile a day. A completely balanced, restricted calorie, diet containing a little bit of everything. Eat three meals a day, get your sweets, carbs, veggies, fruits, juices, protein and keep it to 1200 calories a day. Eat your breakfast and go out and walk the dog – if you don’t have one, take your neighbor’s. Give this diet a year of your life, weigh yourself every Monday and keep track of your weight, see where you are with it…..and make the change for the rest of your life. When you get to your target weight you may increase the diet to 1600 calories a day.
